<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Mumbai</b> – The city of dreams, the financial capital
of India, cricket hub, Bollywood destination, the city which never sleeps etc.
The day before my training, I boarded an
early morning train to Mumbai. People often go to Mumbai for accomplishing
their dreams, well, I was the one who had achieved his dream being a CMA and
then heading to Mumbai. I was excited and equally unhappy about why had the
Institute planned a long 12 days Orientation & Training Program.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
I saw the sunrise from the window. I can’t even
recall when was the last time I saw the sun rising.(Every time I see a sunrise,
I try recalling the last one.) I felt it symbolized a new chapter in my life. I
had already completed my last chapter by completing CMA. I hoped like the
rising sun, the new chapter will also be a good one. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
As the train passed different stations in Mumbai, I
could see locals flooded with people. The local trains also make peculiar sound
when they pass. The sound of friction between the track and the train. Even a
song was made in a Marathi movie based on this sound as a background. Mumbai gets taller every time I visit it. As a
child I was always fascinated by the tall buildings of Mumbai.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Though the
city was not new to me, the coming days were different. I had been here for
weddings, visiting relatives and as a tourist like an outsider, but the next 12
days I was going to be a part of the city. I was going to travel by locals,
BEST busses or even taxis which meant my feet had to run at the tick of the
clock. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
I was just
hoping that I don’t get bored for the next 12 days. After all, I was here alone
with no friend of mine with me. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The moment I stepped down from the train, the Mumbai
climate welcomed me. To any person who lives far from the sea, the moment he puts
his foot down in this city, the humidity welcomes him. Either you work here
till you sweat or the city itself makes you sweat because of its climate. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Its Day 1 and I step out by checking the train on
M-indicator. The 9.04 Local to CST was the one I was going to commute every
day. I reached Chinchpokli praying the local to be less crowded. God blessed
me! And in 10 minutes I reach CST.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
At the start of the session, on Day 1,we had about 7
persons to speak to us. Everyone congratulated us for completing the course and
not referring us as students anymore but as members or professionals ! A sudden
thought came to my mind that 21st February 2016 had changed the life
of all the participants sitting with me. I felt like (and I believe almost all
others had the same thing on their mind) the Rancho of 3 Idiots. The way he was
happy for being in the engineering college, I was happy being a CMA, with the
fresh talent of everyone turned CMA about just 10 days ago.<o:p></o:p><br />

<b>South Mumbai</b> – Another thing I liked
was that our training was in South Mumbai.For others it may be just another
part of Mumbai with high real estate rates, for me it is a photogenic area.
Many of the buildings in Fort are very old which takes you to the British era.
Well, one needs to have photographer’s viewpoint to love old buildings. At
times you feel you are in Bombay and not Mumbai !</div>

<b>CST</b> – As a kid, I was fascinated about visiting
CST because it is a huge railway Station and no trains went beyond this
station. The elder I grew, I was in love with the architectural style of this
building. I had clicked loads of pictures of CST whenever I got the opportunity
to. So I was happy that at least I will be able to observe it every day. And
this building looks magnificent under lights. <o:p></o:p></div>

<b>Anup </b>– My post on Mumbai is incomplete without
Anup. My friend from Aurangabad settled in Mumbai and the one with whom I can travel anywhere considering his interest and adaptability.His is the one with, <i>Vasant, plan banate hai na kahi janeka </i>every other month . We met one evening and
roamed around. It’s always fun roaming with you AK77.<o:p></o:p></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Changing times- </b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
One cannot separate Mumbai and cricket. Football is
also a loved sport here. But times are changing. I used to go for a walk post
dinner on a ground. The very 1st night I saw a group playing Kabaddi.
They were starting after 9.30 PM. And I realized this city never sleeps. It was
on the 3rd or 4th day I saw kids playing cricket on some
small road. Even my cousin in 1st
standard and his friends used to discuss about the ongoing pro kabaddi and not
the Asia cup. Out of curiosity, I showed them a photo of Sachin Tendulkar from
my phone and asked them whether they knew him. And they recognized him. So
times have changes, but not completely! It is said a kid in Mumbai learns to hold a
bat before he learns to walk. Considering the kabaddi fever, the next
generation kids may start pulling each other’s legs! <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<b>The responsibility factor –</b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
We as the citizens of the nation utilize its
resources but many times we are not aware about its wastages. I used to get
down at CST and it was the last station any train used to go. One day I saw a
person switching off the fans in the compartment before he got down. Watching
him, another guy switched off the buttons where he was sitting. Those guys also
had offices to reach like all others, spent 30 seconds to conserve energy. It’s
really worth appreciating. Even I got
habituated to this in the later days. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The Accent – Every other town you visit
in Maharashtra, you’ll find a different accent of Marathi. And Mumbai is no
exception to it. I could observe the ‘Mumbai accent’ while interacting with the
local people here. I also overheard some people speaking in Malvani (my mother
tongue) or Konkani while walking around the roads which is a rare sight in my
part of the state. Even my Hindi got contaminated here by referring words as
khelega not kehlunga, Karega not karunga, Ayega kya not Aar aha hai kya and
what not. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Achievers ! </b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Six groups were formed on Day 1 for the purpose of
presentation. Ours was Group no 3. We named it Achievers! Little did we know
that we would live up to that name some day. In fact none of us was interested
in even interacting. Out of the other 7 members, I interacted with only 1 the 1st
day, Siddhesh who later turned out to be great friend . For a few days it
seemed that only the two of us were interested in presentation.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
There was lot of chaos about whether it’s a GD or
presentation. Few of us assuming it’s a GD were reluctant to rehearse saying
what is the use of rehearsing in a GD
and lets be spontaneous. Ultimately it turned out to be a presentation.
And it was only then we actually started working on it. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
We had a session on mock meeting, where we formed a
Achievers Infra Ltd. Which was in deep troubles and we found out solutions to
overcome them. I also recollect funny moments from it. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
We were done with the presentation soon. But don’t
know why we were low on morale (‘Apna kuch bharosa nahi hai’ feeling). And on
the Presentation Day, Akriti and Pooja were unable to attend due to illness.
And already Krunali had come up with idea of a skit of Startup cofounder and a
venture capitalist ! Either that could have taken us on top or let us sink. To
frighten us, the groups who presented before us were bombarded with a series of
questions by the judges. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Our presentation was started by Krunali (Sharapova
:P), and that was the opening we wanted (calm, professional and decent) and was
followed by Siddhesh(he provided us real insights of the whole topic). Well,
the skit was something which turned out to be our USP. While me & Krunali
were performing, we realized the judges nodding in appreciation on our points.
Next came Jayesh. I don’t know why he was afraid. He performed really well.
Then came Kinjal who did overtime by coming on stage 2 times. It was Zainab’s
turn later. We all were wondering whether she will shiver as she was in the
mock meeting. But she didn’t. And while inviting to speak next, she renamed me
as saavn/savnt. I think only the group members realized it (Guys I have seen
you smiling in the video). Hahaha. That turned out to be a big joke which we
still laugh. Then after my slide, Kinjal concluded the presentation and her
last sentence was worth appreciating, ‘So anyone has any business idea?’ <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The moment our presentation concluded, I felt ours
was the best and someone had to outperform us to win. The ‘Challengers’ also
made a brilliant presentation which was sort of challenge to our group.
Ultimately we won it. It was a crisis situation earlier like in the mock
meeting but we finally made it to the top. Even the one who didn’t attend had a role to play. Akriti was the one
who named our Group Achievers and Pooja was the one who made a significant part
of the presentation. So overall a team effort. The presentation has led us
towards a bond of friends than just a group. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<b>The concluding days- </b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
At the beginning of the Orientation & Training,
we all were of the opinion, ‘When are these 12 days going to end?’ and as we
headed towards the conclusion of it we were thinking, ‘Why is this coming to an
end?’<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Everyone was taking back a bunch of experience along
with him or her. We had developed nick names of a few personalities in the
training or some of their skills which I will remember. Some referred me as
Blogger or Professor; Gaurav was referred as chef as he has his bakery or the
guy with lethal combination; many were accidental CMAs as they introduced
themselves,Thomas Cook(I came to know your name after few days Shubham), Krunali (our chairperson!) as the Star
performer; Sneha Chenge as The Topper, creative artist and her desire to do something for the
institute or budding CMAs; Taresh as the sketcher(Boss you have a real talent);
Zainil(Future Blogger) as the one interested in technical questions and for his
double thumbs up; Sneha Agrawal for interviewing you and talking(no offense),
but I am sending you a bill for the photographs; Siddhesh for interest in
sports( Sachin Tendulkar fans bhai-bhai), Jasleen for her interest in
travelling and being a state level kabaddi player, Pankaj for realizing we have
a mutual friend in Aurangabad, interactions with Shailendra and Sachin and many more. I can’t recollect everyone as I am
writing it down. <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The last day everyone was planning to head
somewhere with the friends they made during the 12 days. Before that we had the
presentation ceremony ! (Not ppt presentation, but the prize
distribution.) We had a special lunch on the last day. During the lunch itself,
the photo session started. I believe no one has any idea about the number of
photos and selfies taken on the last day. Everyone was seeing off each other
and having a goodbye handshake. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Well some of us planned to visit the aquarium. And
considering my interest, I was more than
delighted. Apart from gaining knowledge we were more interested in having fun
the aquarium also. The best part was the game I played with Sneha, which fish
does this resemble to and we had hilarious answers. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Later we spent some time on the Marine Drive. Me and
Siddhesh were talking about not being able to watch the ongoing match at
Wankhede whose floodlights were visible from where we were sitting. Instead, we
along with our friends, witnessed a beautiful sunset from Marine Drive. I had
started my post on 12 days journey with a sunrise and I conclude this chapter
with a sunset. This chapter has definitely been a great one. Mumbai, you’ve
been a great host, never felt like an outsider. I would end with what I wrote
on the sheet for our reactions, ‘A wonderful experience like never
before!’ <o:p></o:p></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background: white; color: #333333; line-height: 115%;">Heart is the place where all your passion
comes from.</span> Yes indeed. And many
times it may take the other side also. The side which you thought you may never
turn in future. Probably that is why there is saying, ‘Never say, that will not
happen to me. Life has its own ways of proving you wrong.’ <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background: white; color: #333333; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I will like to narrate a story of my friend
Shankar who followed his heart and made a magical decision. He lives as at a room which he has taken on
rent. I know him since 5 years. One day when I visited his room I found two cute
puppies in his room. I was awestruck. I almost
yelled out loud, “Hey what are these cuties doing here? How have you not kicked
them away yet?”<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background: white; color: #333333; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">To which he came from inside and replied, “
Dude, these are my new pets !” <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background: white; color: #333333; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">And this was the second shock for me. Never I
in my life I could have imagined Shankar having pets, especially dogs. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background: white; color: #333333; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I said, “ Don’t try to fool me. You can never
have pets. These puppies must have entered when the door was open.”<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background: white;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="line-height: 115%;">To which he replied, “I am serious Vasant. If
these </span><span style="line-height: 18.3999996185303px;">weren't</span><span style="line-height: 115%;"> my pets, why would they have lingered around me legs instead of
yours?”<o:p></o:p></span></span></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background: white; color: #333333; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So he was true. The puppies which were
lingering around me and were now near him. To which I happily took one of them in
my arms and started playing with. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background: white; color: #333333; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The reason I could have never imagined Shankar
having pets was that he was horribly afraid of dogs. I don’t know why but he was
scared of them. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background: white; color: #333333; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">“So what made you change your choices dude? A
few months ago when we met Oscar(A pet from my other friend) you were running
away from that one month old puppy as if he was going to eat you.”<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background: white;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="line-height: 115%;">He said, “These puppies were born in the open
space besides my room. There were a few more. I used to see them every day. But
one day, their mother went missing. That morning I saw only these two roaming
here and there. Till the evening their mother </span><span style="line-height: 18.3999996185303px;">didn't</span><span style="line-height: 115%;"> return. Somehow she
vanished. I just felt pity for them and took them to my room.”<o:p></o:p></span></span></span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Follow
your heart, an advice which we receive in our life many times. But how many
times do we really implement it? Well it is worth thinking. But when we do
follow our heart and listen to it, those decisions are one of the best
decisions we ever make.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The
one incident I recall when I followed my heart and made everyone happy is during
the last Diwali. It was Dussehra, when a few of my friends had gathered at my
home. Someone coined the topic that we should do something different this
upcoming Diwali. May be to spread smiles beyond our family and friend circle. Something similar was in my mind. To which we
came up with the idea everyone contributing some amount and donating it to an
orphanage or any such organization which deals in social service or buying
something out that amount and donating it to them. Well, only four of us were
present there and all of us agreed. It was decided to put the issue on our very
own Whatsapp group. I took the initiative and drafted a message and sent it. To
my surprise, all the 12 members of the group agreed upon it unanimously. We
explored Aurangabad for such organizations. And then we finalized one of them.
Two of us visited the organization and asked for their requirements. They
listed out some of the rations which they needed. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">One
of our friend, Bharat; had his birthday during the four days of Diwali. My
heart said that why not to visit and make our donation on his birthday to make
him feel more special. Again everyone unanimously agreed. When you follow your
heart, it seems like everyone agrees to you. May be everyone’s heart said the
same thing. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So
we contributed a specific minimum decided amount per head. Anyone who wished to
contribute more, was allowed to do on his/her wish. One more thing I
experienced that that when you follow your heart, you feel a sense of
enthusiasm. In our case, it was everyone in our group was feeling it. One of my
friend from Mumbai was so happy about our initiative, he sent his donation
amount from net banking and assured that he will be personally present the next
time. Another friend of us also brought some sweets and clothes for the
purpose.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">On
the decided day, though it was Diwali, when everyone was supposed to be
celebrating with family, everyone spared time and was present there. Two of us
went to market and brought the rations which were required. And then we to make
our birthday boy feel special, we entered his name in the register and also
donated the stuffs by his hands. That smile on his face and of course on all my
friends’ faces was indeed magical. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">And
that is when I realized that when you follow your heart, the magic which
follows afterwards spreads smiles not only on your face but also your closed
ones. Another decision which we took at the same time was to continue our
activity on each other’s birthdays.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Note
: We all really don’t want to brag about our work so the amount has been
purposefully not disclosed.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">13th April 2015</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Today I discovered a planet in
the universe. After years of research I came to know about this planet called
earth where there is life just like our planet. I have captured their TV
signals and studied their ads to understand their lives. But people from this
planet seem to be different than ours. I have planned to visit the earth in
disguise to study the life on earth. But before that let me make a list of things
which I need to study. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">First of all I need to be aware
while brushing my teeth. I came to know that while brushing the teeth early
morning, beautiful actresses slam the door and enter the bathroom asking
whether your toothpaste has salt or neem. How strange it is! </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">After that I also need to use the
deodorant carefully. I also came to know that hot girls jump into the house
after using the deodorants. Some may even run behind me on the roads.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The germs in the toilets on earth
are as big as ghosts. Women out there use some toilet cleaning liquids just
like weapons. Sometimes some actors also suddenly visit homes and clean the
toilets. Strange!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Well I also noticed that the
cosmetics here are more nourishing than the food the humans eat. The cosmetics
are filled with natural ingredients and eatables with preservatives. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">To add to the list of strange
things, people consider stains on clothes as good. (Daag ache hai!). Who in
this universe except on earth will like stains on their clothes. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Some of the chocolates are so
strange that people behave as if they go mad after eating it. I saw an ad which
showed two brothers named Ramesh & Suresh eat a chocolate forget their
senses for a while eating consuming it. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">People on earth also have
developed malt food for their kids to grow taller, stronger and sharper. I
intend to bring lots of it on way back to our planet so that I can sell it
here. Kids on our planet will definitely be benefited by it. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Another product I came across is
bathing soaps on earth make the women look like college going girls. Women
using these soaps have children of 5 to 7 years but look, dance or play just
like any college going girl. Even the people on earth don’t believe it unless the
women’s daughter calls her ‘Mummy’.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The fairness creams on earth also
seem to make people fair in 15 days. But I wonder why people in some parts are
still dark. That is one of the points I will study during my stay there. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Another strange thing is that
just like pets, the mobile networks on earth also follow the people wherever the
people go. Recently there has been a rise in people studying through internet
networks. Some also study weird faculties like economics and biology together
using the internet network.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There is still confusion between
their minds whether mangoes are available in which season. Some say there is a
season while some say that mangoes are available the whole year. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There are many more doubts in my
mind. I will come to know about the answers only after my visit to earth. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This Pepsi IPL, it's not just about cricket. It's time to crash with your own created ad! Make your own Pepsi ad & if it's chosen, it could play on TV during Pepsi IPL! And hey, it doesn't end here… Even if you're chosen as a finalist, you stand a chance of winning a prize amount of Rs.1 lakh! So what are you waiting for guys?</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">“<i>I am joining in on all the

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">When it comes to Ads, we generally
have a negative approach towards them. It’s because Ads are the one which stand
between us and our entertainment, ads are ones which distract us while browsing
by way of pop ups may be on computers or smart phones. But how often do we look
at the Ads as a creative side of human brain. Many ads offer the best
entertainment in the smallest of the time frame. It is just that we don’t look
at them in that way. Many Ad campaigns have made the identity of the respective
companies and have helped them build their image. So here are a few of the best
TV Ads I have ever seen. </span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in;">
<!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">1.<span style="font-size: 7pt; font-stretch: normal;"> <b> </b></span><!--[endif]--><i><b>Aaila Sachin by Pepsi</b> –</i> One of my favorite
ads of my childhood by my favorite sports icon then and even today, Sachin
Tendulkar. A gang of school kids (I was of the same age when it aired on TV) in
their school uniforms with bat and ball in their hands are seen wearing a mask
of Sachin Tendulkar. They open a box of Pepsi bottles and start distributing it
among themselves. And when one kid hands over the Pepsi to one of them, the guy
removes his mask revealing himself who is none other than Sachin Tendulkar. To
which the kid’s reaction was, “Aaila, Sachin”. Down the memory lane, this ad by
Pepsi is one of my favorite Pepsi commercials. </span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in;">
<!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">2.<span style="font-size: 7pt; font-stretch: normal;"> <b> </b></span><!--[endif]--><i><b>Raymond’s Complete Man</b> – </i>Raymond’s Video
ads have always been classy. Their ads depict a lot without words. The one in
this list was aired last year. A young couple is about to leave for office in
their car when the lady suddenly remembers something and runs back into the
house. She comes and sits in the card and again realizes something and rushes
back home. This time she takes a lot of time so her husband also rushes into
the house. And then, the lady comes out and her husband comes out with their small
son. The lady leaves for the office while her hubby stays home to take care of
their son. And the only line which is spoken is, ‘<i>Many things make the complete man, being there is just one”. </i> Truly an Ad which states<i> Actions speaks louder than words.</i> </span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in;">
<!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">3.<span style="font-size: 7pt; font-stretch: normal;"> <b> </b></span><!--[endif]--><i><b>Google Reunion </b>–</i> Though a lengthy one, the
best ad depicting the benefits of the internet or say Google search. An old man
in India talking to his granddaughter gets nostalgic and tells her about his
friend in Pakistan and how they were separated during the India-Pakistan
partition. The girl searches the internet and gets connected to her Grandpa’s
friend through his grandson. The friend in Pakistan arrives in India with his
grandson to meet his buddy first time after the partition. Throughout the Ad we can see how they are
benefitted by Google for the wonderful reunion. </span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in;">
<!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">4.<span style="font-size: 7pt; font-stretch: normal;"> <b> </b></span><!--[endif]--><i><b>Mauka Mauka Ad (World Cup 2015) </b>– </i>Cricket
World cup always comes up with and ads that are remembered for ages. The Mauka
Mauka ad series this world cup is also one of them. Though there were many ads
in this series, the one for India Vs Pakistan match remains the best. Depicting
a Pakistani cricket lover’s wish for the last 24 years of world cup of bursting
crackers which never came true. Thanks to Team India that they can still
feature the Ad’s next part in the next world cup as they still haven’t captured
their mauka (opportunity) to burst the crackers. </span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in;">
<!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">5.<span style="font-size: 7pt; font-stretch: normal;"> <b> </b></span><!--[endif]--><i><b>Chalo Dekhe Fir Wahi Sapna by Sachin
Tendulkar for ICC WC 2015 </b>– </i>It was his dream to win the world cup for India.
For my generation who ages less than Sachin’s career it was also a dream to win
the World Cup as we never witnessed the 1983 saga. But this time he was not
going to be with team but with us cheering for the team. The ad touches the
heart of every cricket lover as one can hear the chants of Sachin Sachin. And
when he says,” Chalo Dekhe fir se wahi sapna”, those goose bumpswhich a cricket
lover gets can’t be explained in words. </span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in;">
<!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">6.<span style="font-size: 7pt; font-stretch: normal;"> </span><!--[endif]--><i><b>Saurav Ganguly’s Pepsi Ad</b> – </i>Find me one
cricket lover who was not touched by this ad. There was a time in Dada’s career
when he was out of the Team India and was surrounded by many controversies. The
ad starts with, “Hi, mera naam saurav Ganguly hai, bhule to nahin?” And further
stating his efforts to make a comeback to team India. And also that he was going
to support his team and appeals everyone to join the Blue billion cricket fans.
</span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in;">
<!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">7.<span style="font-size: 7pt; font-stretch: normal;"> <b> <i> </i></b></span><!--[endif]--><b><i>Airtel’s
cutest Ad ever</i></b>- One of the cutest ad by Airtel was aired last year includes a
bride and a groom talking over their phones. Amidst all the celebrations the
bride is talking to the groom over the phone. The groom naughtily says that
tonight he is speaking to his girlfriend for the last time as she will be his
wife from tomorrow. Then this smart
bride brings to his notice that their marriage is today as it was well past 12.
Though there were few more ads in this series, this one remains my favorite
with the catch line –‘Kuch rishteen din raat nahi dekha karte’ </span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in;">
<!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">8.<span style="font-size: 7pt; font-stretch: normal;"> <b><i> </i></b></span><!--[endif]--><i><b>Candyman’s
naughty kid</b> </i>– Kids and their naughtiness is an integral part of many ads and
when it comes to chocolates or candies it is at its peak. The kid in this ad
eats the candy (chocolate) and a middle age man who has his car in the reverse
gear asks him whether the car is touching or not (Lag raha hai kya). To it this
naught kid asks him to reverse it more and suddenly the car hits the wall. The
kid then says to the man, “Ab lag gaya!” (Now you've hit it). The ad is naught just like the kid.</span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 115%;">Well first
off all, I will thank IndiBlogger for this Happy Hours initiative. The
following blog post is for Look up stories campaign by Housing.com (</span><a href="https://housing.com/lookup" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000; line-height: 115%; text-decoration: none;">https://housing.com/lookup</span></a><span style="line-height: 115%;">.) </span><span style="line-height: 115%;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I would like
to narrate an incident which filled me up with optimism and hope for the
future. It happened a few months ago during Diwali. To everyone’s surprise it
was a cloudy day. Diwali is not the time
when we have cloudy days. And this overcast day made it more boring. I was
thinking whether the next generation will have to study the different seasons
in our country. It rains every time of the year except during the monsoons. I was lying on the sofa and watching news on the television. All I could watch were the negative news. What
a day I said. Its overcast outside,
which was making me feel dull. Nothing good to watch on the TV and I was also
unable to sleep. Then suddenly my Mom called me from the kitchen, “ Vasant, go
get some vegetables from the market.” And handed over me the list of vegetables
to bring. Even though I was in no mood to go, I had to hurry up because the
rains could have started pouring any time. I took my bike and headed towards
the market. I hate going to the vegetable market. There is so much crowd and
chaos out there.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">At the
market I saw a seller beating up a kid for stealing his fruits. That little boy
seemed a beggar to me. I felt that these kids must go to schools and get education because they
are the future of our country. If they are e</span></span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 115%;">ducated they we earn their living. </span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 115%;"> </span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 115%;">My thoughts were brought to an end by the rain
drops.</span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 115%;"> </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 115%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">‘Oh no!
Rains during Diwali !’, (This isn’t the time for rains in this part of Maharashtra)
I said to me and rushed to my bike. The drizzle
had just began but one look at the sky promised that it was going to be heavy
later. I rushed towards my home but I had trouble riding my bike in the rains
without any raincoat or helmet to cover me. I reached a traffic signal. I speeded up so
that I could get pass it before it turned red but to my distress it turned red
and I had to wait. As the timer showed
last 15 seconds almost everyone behind me
honked and went away. Some also gave me look as if I was the one who was
not complying the law. I turned around
to see only a lady with a kid on the
scooter beside me waiting for the signal turn green. That little kid asked his
mother out of confusion, “Mummy, Why aren’t we going ?Everyone else has already
left”<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The lady
explained the little boy by pointing towards the signal, “Beta, it hasn’t
turned green. And we shall not go unless it turns green”<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And she left
only after the signal had turned green. Now that may seem a very small gesture by that lady, but in the
era when everyone wants their kids to win the rat race ( by any means), here I found
a mother who not only explained her child to abide the law but also acted accordingly.
<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This little incident filled me up with hope and
optimism for the next generation. Just a
little while ago I was worried about the next generation. But after the incident
at the traffic signal, I realized that there are good people and they are
trying their level best for a better tomorrow and in future words like kindness
and ethics will also find a place beyond the textbooks. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Will you shave or not? The
question asked to most of the men. I am the one who personally believes men
should be well groomed and have a clean shaven face. Since old times, men are
considered the one who are the one who are not interested in grooming and all.
In fact in many communities the moustache and beard are the symbol of being
manly. But now-a- days things are different. Men are also interested in
grooming and other like activities. But still many are criticized for keeping
stubble on their face. I have the opinion that men are very lazing to do all
these activities. It is not like all men love a stubble and unshaved face, but
we are lazy enough to avoid this. It’s so time consuming.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I will like to share my personal
experience regarding my stubble look. Like
all other men I am also among the one who is prepared and ready with a well
groomed and clean shaved face for special events which are known well in
advance. But like all others, I land into trouble when an unexpected special
event arises out of nowhere. I remember
it was just before my 21st birthday I missed an opportunity to go on
a birthday date (Yes, a birthday date. I date on your birthday is a birthday
date) with my crush. I had a habit of not shaving my beard (out of my laziness)
for many days and keeping a bristled face. Just before my birthday I realized I
needed to shave my beard. But then my inner voice said, “Dear, why are you in
such a hurry? You can groom yourself tomorrow morning. Anyhow, the snaps will
be taken tomorrow evening when the cake will be cut. No one will notice it till
then.” And then I set aside the thought. </span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">It was on the evening before my
birthday, I got a message from my crush, Rashmi, - ‘Hey can you come along with
me at XY Book Stores?’</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">How could I have said NO?</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">So I replied – ‘When?’</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Rashmi – Right now! I’ll explain
you everything once you arrive.’</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Me – ‘Will be there in 10
minutes.’</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I took my bike and headed towards
XY stores. I didn’t mind to meet her in a stubble look. (Who knew that she will
mind?) I reached XY Book stores on time. She was already there. She told that
she was leaving for Delhi tomorrow and wanted to carry something to read along
with her in the train. After purchasing
the books, she wished me a happy birthday in advance (So she had not forgotten
my birthday). I told her how unhappy I
was that she will not be there at my birthday. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Suddenly a thought came to my
mind. I told her I could take her out for the treat today itself.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I said, “Hey Rashmi lets go
somewhere I celebrate my birthday in advance!”</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">She said, “Actually Vasant, I had
the same thought in my mind before you arrived. But…”</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I asked, “But what?”</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Rashmi, “Let it be now”</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I was like what the hell! Why not
now? What’s the problem?</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">But I asked in a polite manner,
“What happened?”</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Being a very close friend she had
a habit of being very frank to me. She almost shouted at me, “Look at you
Vasant!!! Looks like you have just come out of jail and haven’t shaved up your
face for ages”</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">There was no time for me to go
home and come back as it was already late. Noticing my disappointed face she
said, “Dear, it’s a punishment for you. Hope you next time keep yourself well
groomed every time. A lesson to you a day before your birthday that in future,
whenever you ask a girl for a sudden date, you won’t land into trouble.”</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Before leaving, she said, “Wish
you a happy birthday in advance dear. Enjoy your day tomorrow and keep in mind
the lesson you learnt. Bye”</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">She left and I sat there like a
dumb guy who lost an opportunity to take his crush on a date just because of an
untrimmed face. </span></div>

<span style="font-size: 26.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">A trip to remember<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Khuub Jamega Rang, Jab milenge teen yaar... (There is no
Bagpiper involved here). There are times when you just plan and plan and plan.
Very few of them get executed. About 4-5 days ago, I called Anup A.k.a Ak, from
Mumbai asking him to come to Pune so that we could roam around Pune. I was off
to Pune for a change after my CMA final exams. Another friend of us Pankaj aka
Pk (no resemblance with the movie Pk) was already out there for his studies.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Meeting your friends
in a new city is always fun. And in our case, it was me who knew nothing about
Pune; Pankaj who was there for his studies but was equally new to Pune and Anup
from Mumbai who always shook his head saying, “I don’t understand a dam thing about
Pune”</span></span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;">.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Even after all of this, we decided to go to Sinhagad. We
decided to meet at Swargate, a place from where we could board the bus to
Sinhagad. Anup had to take a bus from
Mumbai at 6 AM. I messaged him, ‘Are you sure you are going to wake up so
early?’<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">To this he directly sent a screenshot of his alarm set at 5
AM. I was still not sure whether he will make it or not. The chilling winter
was one reason and second but obvious his laziness.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">On the day, I woke up just to check whether he had boarded
the bus or not. To my surprise he was on his way on time. It was going to be a
three hour journey for him. The temperature in Pune had dropped well below 9°celcius.
Swargate was more than an hour journey by bus for me and for Pankaj it was a
half hour distance. Accordingly I left. Being from a city (Aurangabad) which
has nothing called public transport, a city like Pune tests your patience while
you wait for a bus. After a long wait I boarded the bus. Meanwhile Anup had
already reached. Soon I reached the decided place. Meeting a friend after a
long time from another city in some another city gave us a feel from the movie
‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’. And why not, all of us were strangers to this place
and arrived at the meeting point from our respective places. Soon Pankaj also
arrived. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We headed to the bus stop from where we could get a bus to
Sinhagad. We were already late and after enquiring, we came to know that was
bus will take more time to arrive. Then we decided to go by a six-seater or
Tumtum or Dugdugi as it is popularly called. </span></span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16pt; line-height: 115%;">Anup’s head
kept hitting the roof of the vehicle and I made fun of it throughout our
journey. On the way, we saw the Khadakwasla Dam. </span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 21px; line-height: 24.5333347320557px;">And then we headed to our destination, Sinhagad.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">On a just another lazy morning, I stood on the
terrace looking at the vehicles passing by. I was standing still, eyes on the
road and mind lost in some usual thoughts.
This was broken and I was brought to the present by the sweet sound of twittering
of sparrows. Wow! There were two of them eating the food grains laid on the
terrace. Such was the sweetness of their chirping that it made me forget the exasperate
sounds of the vehicles and their honking. I observed their minute movements closely. The
sparrow turned its head to its right and left in a very charming way. Its tiny
eyes seemed just like a black dot. Later,
it opened its small wings, jumped off and flew away. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Suddenly I remembered how my Mom used to feed me
the lunch/dinner when I was a kid persuading by saying, “<span lang="HI">एक</span><span lang="MR"> घास चिऊचा!</span> <span lang="MR">(<i>‘</i></span><i>Ek Ghaas Cheeucha</i><i><span lang="MR" style="mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Mangal; mso-bidi-language: MR; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">’</span></i><i><span lang="MR"> </span></i>meaning one bite for
the sparrow). By using these set of words for different birds & animals, every
mother persuades her disinterested child to eat. Sparrows have been such an
integral part of our childhood eating. As
we grew up, that cord between us somewhere gets broken. Questions may rise on
their decreasing numbers, but do we really spare time to at notice the existing
ones? </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Malshej Ghat!!! I had heard a lot about this place and its
beauty. Some of the photos which I had seen had made it one of my ‘destinations
to be visited’. So when there were discussions about various destinations to go
this monsoon and the option of Malshej Ghat came up, I ended casting my vote in
the favor of Malshej Ghat. And we ended up finalizing Malshej Ghat. We were
going with an NGO called Nisarga Mitra Mandal.
Soon we registered ourselves for the trek to Malshej Ghat. From the date
we registered for the trek, all were eagerly waiting for 4th Of August!!!<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The monsoons this year had been satisfactory so far which raised
our expectations that our trek will be in a rainy weather. But God had written
a different story; as we don’t give importance to the things easily achieved in
life. As there were about 10 days to go for the trek, there was a landslide at
Malshej Ghat. The road was closed for few days. Then there came news that the
boulders had been cleared and the road was open for traffic. We started our
planning for the trek. But this
happiness didn’t last for a long time. When there were 2 days to go for the
trek, there was news that again there was a landslide at Malshej Ghat and it
will be closed for few days. Now we were worried about our trek. One of us
called Nisarga Mitra Mandal to confirm, and to our surprise we were going!!!
Yayyyy!!!! The clouds of uncertainty were now cleared and we had begun our
preparations for the trek. Life surprises us at times when we expect least from
it. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">And the much awaited day came. We had to leave on 3rd
of August in the night. So it was me, Amol, Bharat and Sandesh who were going
for the trek. We gathered at the
reporting place at our reporting time. There we were joined by office mates of
Sandesh (Abhilash, Anchal, Harsha, Mohini and Saurabh). And now were a group of
nine. All of us were pretty much excited about the trek. The thing which
doubled the excitement was that it was Friendship Day the next Day...<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">When our watches showed 12 o’clock, our bus started and we
yelled “Happiee Friendship Day”!!! Whoa!! What a start to the friendship day it
was... We just had to ensure that we enjoy the next 24 hours to our fullest… Soon
we had a small photo session in our bus itself. Then started India’s most
favorite game while travelling, <i>antaakshari</i>. We were also joined by others who had come
for the trek. We became so busy singing songs in our strange<b> </b>voices that
we didn’t realize what time it was until our bus stopped. It was 1.30 AM. It
was a halt for Tea. Sipping Tea with friends on highway at 1.30 AM on
Friendship Day, what else can one ask for?</span></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">In a little while we were back in our bus and the fun started
again. <i>Antaakshari</i> was followed by some jokes and funny texts. Now, some
wickets had begun to fall. But few (including me) were unable to sleep of
excitement. When I was about to sleep, our bus stopped again. I checked the
time, it was 3.30 AM. Now what? Was it another stop for tea? Sandesh stepped
down the bus out of curiosity. I closed my eyes and tried sleeping. The very
next moment, Sandesh knocked at the bus below our window. “Dude, the other bus
has got some problem and that’s why we have stopped also. Come down.” I
followed his instructions and stepped down the bus. It was little cool out
there. All I could see was farms on both the sides of the road. There was no
vehicle passing by on that road. We called everyone else out of the bus. Just
then the sky caught my attention. How beautiful it was!!! Innumerable stars
were twinkling in the sky. In fact they were the only source of light there. It
was a scene which we never see in our cities. It reminded of Nehru Planetarium
in Mumbai. But this one was real! So it
was about 3.45 AM and we were on a quiet road with one of the bus failed. And
yes, it was Friendship Day!!! So the enjoyment began there also. We clicked
some snaps trying to utilize the camera’s flash to its fullest. Soon, we were
set to go. The people in other bus were ‘adjusted’ in our bus. To our
disappointment, our group was separated. Me, Bharat & Sandesh were at the
middle of the bus while others occupied the last row. But the excitement couldn’t
let the three of us sleep. Now it was the time of ‘Bhag Milkha Bhag’ in mobile.
But after realizing the amount of battery it would eat, we stopped it.
Meanwhile, Sandesh was ‘run out’. It was me and Bharat for the last wicket partnership.
We decided to enjoy every moment of the day and hence didn’t sleep. Time passed
quickly and it was dawn.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

marched towards the temple. Bola Ganpati Bappa, Morya!!! The temple is located
in caves which are at a height. So we had to climb. We enjoyed clicking photos
and observing the monkeys on our way. After offering our prayers to<i> Bappa</i>,
we headed towards Malshej Ghat. The journey is amazing as one can see mountains
covered with fog and little drizzle was like an icing on the cake. Our players
who had gone to the sleeping pavilion were back and we again started the <i>Masti</i>
in the bus. Once the Ghat started, all we could see was fog. The visibility was
as low as 5 to 10 meters. And our bus slowed down, took a little turn to its
right and stopped. Everyone rushed down of excitement. This was the point from
where our trek was going to start.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">We walked down the Ghat by road for about one Km. The best
part of it was that we could hardly see the road ahead because of fog, but were
able to hear the sound of waterfalls around us. After walking
for about one kilometer, we had to climb down the mountain. Now the real
adventure had started. (One more thing, our phones had no network. So no texts and
no calls to disturb) Climbing down the mountain was fun. We made our way from
the bushes, carefully putting the feet at proper place so that we don’t fall.
And if someone slipped, we had to catch the other. We were at last, behind
everyone. We could hear noises (yelling in fun) of those who had reached down.
There came a point where we stepped down and the scene which I saw in front was
_______ (I fall short of words to describe it). </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">There was water coming in from
the mountain which we had climbed down and all those who had reached down were
enjoying in that waterfall. We all jumped into it and started splashing water
on each other. We had to climb this waterfall following the direction it came
from. </span></span></div>

I was excited and was going through the books (or say ‘Modules’ as we call it). As a habit, I opened a book and held it close to smell it. Ah!!! Only a book lover can understand h</span><span class="text_exposed_show" style="background-color: white; color: #37404e; display: inline; font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;">ow divine the pleasant smell of a new book is. New books, new syllabus, little drizzle and the cool breeze… With this, I became little nostalgic. Yes... It was in the month of June that the school started every year and we used to get new books… But a lot has changed. Text books have been replaced by Modules. The colorful and cheerful front cover is no more. Instead we have a front cover with a corporate look.<br />No ‘Preamble’ at the starting of the book. The fully loaded flowcharts and tables have replaced the beautiful sketches, pictures and caricatures… The various ‘Acts’ have replaced the fascinating stories…The verses have disappeared a long back.<br />The eagerness of the new books has now been put back by the deadline to complete the syllabus… The excitement in visiting the market is no more because these days we get books at our doorstep.<br />But still, books always bring a new feeling. The feeling of joy and anticipation... And the season of monsoon, adds a flavor to it !!!</span></div>

is the place where The Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea meet. There
also a spiritual importance of this place. People come to wash off their sins
here. An interesting question was asked to me by a foreign tourist in train
while returning from Kanyakumari. She asked whether I thought taking
a bath would wash off all my sins. To which I replied that I had not taken a
bath out there instead just washed my feet. On my reply she asked whether that
was sufficient enough to wash my sins. Then I had to explain her that
I was there for fun and looking at the number of people taking bath and the
dirt out there, I just symbolically washed my sins by only washing my
feet. <o:p></o:p></b></span></div>
